New Patients
What to Expect
On your first visit……When you first arrive, you will be greeted by a friendly staff member and given some forms to fill out so that the doctor can get to know you better. You and the doctor will then sit down and discuss your health concerns privately. A thorough examination to determine the cause of your problem is the next step. Any necessary xrays will be recommended and done. The doctor will then determine if chiropractic care will be beneficial for you or if referral to a different health professional would be the more appropriate approach in your case.
The doctor will also reserve time to explain your case with you and describe what treatment plan is necessary for you. She/he will answer all your questions and then you will start receiving treatment for your condition.
Relief Care
The goal of relief care is to get you out of pain as fast as we possibly can.
Corrective/Stabilization Care
The goal of corrective care is to stabilize your spine/joints, to allow your body to heal more completely. You may not have much pain at this point, but the injured tissues are not fully healed yet. Treatment is usually not as frequent and self help measures (exercise, good posture) are important.
Maintenance/Wellness Care
The goal of maintenance care is to maintain the correction already achieved, as you live your life to the fullest.
The type of work you do (computer, driving, manual labour) and the lifestyle choices you make (like hours of computer, sleeping on your stomach, poor lifting technique, poor posture, lack of appropriate exercise) can make you susceptible to recurrent spinal problems. Maintenance care can help reduce/prevent painful flare-ups caused by poor lifestyle habits.
Wellness-minded adults choose this type of care for themselves and their children. Even chiropractors choose this type of care for their families because they know the healthy benefits regular adjustments achieve.
How long you choose to benefit from chiropractic care is up to you!
